Q: Is UVAP a "mold remediation" company?
A: No, UVAP is not a mold remediation company. If you have mold growing inside the walls of your home then you need to call in a mold remediation expert to remove it.
Q: Why hasn't UV-C lighting been used more extensively in the past?
A: UV-C lighting has undergone some major improvements in the quality of the lamps produced by manufacturers. The lamps created within the last 5 years have more precise wavelengths, and they are built to last longer under the harsh conditions of HVAC systems.
Q: Should I have my ducting cleaned before I install the UVAP in-duct system?
A: No this isn't necessary. The system will sanitize your whole ducting system as it operates. This occurs because the cooling coil area is the source of the food your mold grows on. Once this area is bathed in UV-C light, the mold and its food source is eliminated. Any mold left in the ducting eventually decays away in the clean air. We do suggest you change your filter after installation to start with a clean one.
Q: Does the UVAP in-duct system produce ozone?
A: No, the lamps included with our system produce no ozone. This is important because many air purification products produce ozone that can be hazadous to your health. Read more at the Environmental Protection Agency's website.
Q: How much electricity will my dual lamp unit use?
A: Average costs range from 7¢ to 15¢ per day. However, many customers report a drop in monthly gas and electric costs due to their systems running cleaner and more efficiently.
Q: Does the unit require any maintenance?
A: No maintenance is required other than a periodic check of the back of the unit or the preconfigured site gauge to ensure the lamps are still functional.
Q: What does it cost to replace the lamps?
A: Standard home lamps are $39.99 plus labor (if required), and they can last up to 3 years.
